CELESTIAL STREAK: BACK-TO-BACK HIGH ROLLER WINS FOR ÁNGEL GUILLÉN
If Robbie Williams ever needs a poker-themed remix of Angels, Angel Guillen may have given him a storyline, after the divine streak he is on at WPT Australia, currently being held in Sydney.
Just days after clinching the $5K Mad Max title at WPT Australia, where he outlasted a stacked final table to claim $121,125 along with a WPT Prime Championship entry, and his first Boomerang trophy, Guillen returned to the felt with fire still in his veins.
This time, he conquered the $20K Super High Roller, securing a $200,000 payday and a $16,000 WPT World Championship package and his second Boomerang trophy of the series, after a heads-up ICM deal with fellow Mexican pro Sergio Barrios.
The back-to-back victories not only showcase Guillen’s elite form but also mark a rare achievement in the same series. These wins add to his growing collection, which already includes the Surfboard trophy from last year’s WPT Prime Gold Coast $5K event.
As captain of Los Jefes and a WPT Global Ambassador, Guillen continues to lead by example, showing that consistency and confidence are just as important as the cards themselves.
Adding to the huge moment was the presence of his wife, WPT Anchor Lynn Gilmartin, who was on the rail cheering him on throughout both events.
With two Boomerang trophies now in his possession if he ever decides to throw one, he’s got a backup just in case it doesn’t come back.
