About the Australian Poker Schedule

Launched in early 2022, the Australian Poker Schedules was created by Australian poker player and industry advocate Craig Abernethy. The website aims to collate thousands of poker events from all over Australia in one place as well as news, unique data and tools that add value to players and operators all over our country.

With an explosion of poker tours, leagues and casino poker rooms across the country, we are now spoilt for choice of poker events in different formats, price points and structures. Unfortunately due to regulations in some states poker is very limited, however Australian Poker Schedule actively works with stakeholders including government, regulators, operators, casinos, dealers, staff and players to benefit the entire Australian community.

APS is a user friendly website for players to easily find out what is happening on the Australian poker scene. We provide series schedules from individual poker websites and social media pages and list them on our site for planning your year and best of all, it’s completely free!

Full transparency, clear terms and conditions, rake and any other money withheld is important so that players can make an informed choices about game selection, without surprises! This is important to be a long-term successful poker player, regardless of if a player is a full-time player, recreational or social player.

GAME SELECTION IS VERY IMPORTANT.

Players can only make the best choice for their poker bankroll or disposable income if operators provide every single detail relating to a tournaments entry fee, any rake or admin fees, money withheld for staff, money withheld for Trophies, Jewellery prizes, Player of the Series (POTS) , Player of the Year (POTY), other future game deductions or prize money withheld and awarded as tickets or game credits.

Players can also only make the best choices if poker operators are fully transparent with tournament structures, blind-levels, starting stacks, Prize Money payout structures, scheduled days of play including what happens if play is unable to complete due to venue access, operating hours and/or licenses.

This information should be shown either on the poker tournament structure sheet directly or with a clear link to further information pages and terms and conditions.

APS provides a structure calculator that can be used to compare similar buy-in events, to see how the structure rates, in terms of speed and value.

More details about the structure calculator and rating system can be found under the FAQ page, but it in simple terms it compares tournament structures, rake, administration costs, and anything else that comes out of a single tournament prize pool.

All tournament rules should be clearly stated or they may refer to Tournament Directors Association (TDA) website, but if any rules are altered as House Rules these should be clearly stated as a matter of high importance. Eg. Shot-Clock, Variations of one or more chips qualifying as a call, Verbal statements being ruled as binding, Player physical identification/appearance rules, Use of Electronic equipment, etc.
