1K FANTASY - 2024 APL MILLION
Australian Poker Schedule is proud to present the 1K Fantasy at the 2024 APL Million, to be held at Southport Sharks 9th-26th August 2024.
Fantasy drafts add an additional level of fun to major sporting events and competitions. Pick your team, accumulate points, take on the other teams to win a share of the prizemoney. An example of other well known fantasy competitions are NRL Supercoach, AFL Fantasy, and 25K Fantasy by Daniel Negreanu at the WSOP each year.
This edition of the 1K Fantasy is similar to the 25K Fantasy by Daniel Negreanu with a few small changes. The points system used will be identical to the scoring system used during the 2024 APL Million $100K Player of the Series, so no field bonuses or anything like that. The players on your roster earn the exact points awarded in APL Player of the Series. There is no separation of tiers for 1K Fantasy, all players points are combined together into a single total. The other difference will be that each team will only have a 6 player roster and salary of $150 (instead of 8 and $200 like $25K Fantasy).
Pick your team LIVE at 1K Fantasy Player Draft via Auction format
This is what sets the 1K Fantasy apart from other fantasy competitions that you may have played before. The Auction style draft really adds to the fun of it, strategising which players to pick first, or waiting to pounce later when other teams have spent most of their budget.
There are no fixed prices or set player pools to select from like other fantasy drafts like NRL Supercoach. You can select any player at the live player draft, you can even pick yourself. You will need to research who is playing!
Each team will take their turn at picking 1 player and set the opening bid, then other teams have the opportunity to bid on that player too. If there’s not much interest in a player pick then you’re in luck and they will go cheaply, however some of the more well known crushers that play full schedules will come at a premium.
Your budget for your roster is a $150 Fantasy Salary to buy 6 players, some players might cost $1, some could cost your team budget more than $100.
The auction is scheduled for 6pm Thursday 8th August at the APL Million venue, Southport Sharks. The auction is expected to take approximately 3 hours, but will continue until every team has been selected. If your team has been completed you may leave earlier, but it shouldn’t go much later than 9pm but feel free to stick around and socialise with other teams.

1K Fantasy Team Entry and Prize Pool
The cost to enter this competition is $1050 ($1000 + $50 admin)
You can get a group together, but at least one nominated member must attend the Live player draft Auction to pick your team.
The competition will be capped at 20 teams, so get in quick.
Prize Pool dependant on final entries.
Eg. Prize Pool for 20 teams
1st – 10K , 2nd – $5K, 3rd – $3K, 4th – $2K
Eg. Prize Pool for 14 teams
1st – 8K , 2nd – $4K, 3rd – $2K
If 8 teams or less Top 2 paid.
Staff working at the 2024 APL Million in any capacity are ineligible to enter.
Checking the scores and following along with updates
There will be an entire page dedicated to the progress of the 1K Fantasy on Australian Poker Schedule.
All of the teams and their owner will be listed along with their teams scores, player purchase prices, and other relevant information. Each team and player score will be updated daily.
There will be interviews and photos with team owners and some of the players that were picked at the Live player Auction.

FAQ
Do I need to attend the Live Draft Auction? Yes, at least one of the team owners will need to be there to nominate players and bid!
What happens if a player in my team does not play any events? The player will earn 0 pts. There are no substitutes, make sure you pick players you know are attending
What is the starting bid for any player? $1.
How is the order of picking teams determined at the Live Draft Auction? A random draw will take place at the start of the Live Draft Auction, team selection will continue in this order until all teams are full.
Can owners draft themselves? Yes.
Can other owners be on a video call, eg. FaceTime during the draft if they cannot be there? Yes, provided they cannot be heard, eg. use headphones and there is no disruption to the draft process. Other owners can listen in, but all phones need to be on silent.
Who sets the prices that players sell for in the Fantasy Draft? The prices are set at the auction, players are nominated with an opening bid, this can be $1 or a higher amount. This player is bid on until sold to one of the teams. Each player can only be sold to one team for the price decided by the Live auction process.
Can a team have multiple owners that contribute to a team entry fee? Yes, and they can all attend the auction, with one nominated for bidding.
